“Tanto Mar… a single language” is a Lusophone project promoted by the Contigo Teatro Association in partnership with the Female Presence Association-FEM.
It proposes to think and feel the World of Lusophony discovering affinities and singularities in a literary journey and in the voice of those who inhabit the places and visit us to talk about its roots and daily life. They bring us rhythms, sounds, tastes, smells. They offer us their day to day history, legend or poem.
This meeting will present the objectives of this project, scheduled to take place on Madeira every two years.
The first edition is dedicated to Sao Tome and Principe, as we have established links with these islands, motivated by poet and storyteller Olinda Beja, for whom Madeira is his other home. The work of the Madeiran playwright, Baltazar Dias, seems to confirm the already distant cultural ties between the two archipelagos. Naturally, the “Tragedy of the Marquis of Mantua and Emperor Charlemagne” is the source of the Tchiloli, one of the most significant cultural events of São Tomé. During the two days there are conferences, exhibitions, plays, recitals, dance workshops and traditional music.
The event ends with a typical Sao Tome dinner.
